and I didn't even realize it! I have hardly been on the computer at all, though, so I didn't notice that I hadn't been here! Did anyone else realize I was MIA?
Well, the cat has officially taken over. He really is our little Buddy, spreading his time out between all of us. He will play fetch with me at 4am, then sleep so close next to me that I cannot roll over. Then he will get up in the morning and go to Jessica before she wakes up, so she thinks that he has been there all night. He and Scott were messing around on the bed, and when Scott had his hand under the covers the cat gets this WILD eyed look, his pupils get HUUUGE and he crouches down, does the butt wiggle, puts his ears back flat and POUNCES! Then Scott jerks his hand up in the air and the cat goes, whole body into the air, straight UP and BACK about a foot, ready to pounce again. But you can't do it again, because you are laughing SOOOO hard at what he just did. It's very entertaining. Rebekah can't keep away from him either. When she picks him up, the cat goes completely limp. No claws, not tense, nothing. He just lays there. Even when she has carried him around the neck! He somehow knows she is not going to hurt him, not really.
His favorite toy is a paper ball. When you crumple it up, he does the crouch down to the ground thing again, his eyes so huge all you see is black and waits. When you throw it, he leaps into action, then brings it back! He will do this ten or twenty times. He plays fetch better than my dogs! And a pile of newspapers in the family room turned into a pile of fun for him. So does a brand new roll of toilet paper. It has to be attacked and shredded. Whatever that TP roll did, it must be punished severely for it. And then, just as quickly as he got started, he will jump to the top of the cat tree and curl up for a long nap. And sleep...and sleep.
We left the house in a hurry yesterday evening and left a pan with some chicken thighs in it on the table. Well, when we got home last night, it appears that Buddy had a feast! He ate one completely and dragged another off the table onto the floor. He wasn't interested in the food I poured out for him last night. I can't imagine why. I guess we need to be a little more organized and put our stuff away!
He is a great addition to our lives and we love him very much. Aside from learning to keep his claws off the furniture, he has been very good. And the last few days, he has been using the cat tree as a scratching post as well. He is doing well.
